Premier League

This 25-year-old Tottenham ace could hold the key to unlocking Arsenal’s defence – agreed?

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a tough game against Arsenal this weekend. The North London derby is one of the Premier League’s most hotly contested rivalries, and we’re expecting a full house in the pub to witness the action on Saturday.

Tottenham will go into the game as favourites, given their fine recent form, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Arsenal always turn up when the Lilywhites come to town, and so it won’t be easy for Mauricio Pochettino’s men. Their task, though, will be made a whole lot easier if one man, in particular, is on form.

The man in question is Christian Eriksen. Though often a player that goes under the radar at Spurs, his name has been sung repeatedly by the fans in the Transfer Tavern this week owing to his fine form for his country. He bagged a hat-trick for Denmark to see the side through to the 2018 World Cup, earning legendary status all the while. The Tottenham fans in the pub, then, are hoping for more of the same this weekend.

He was simply unplayable, and his performance extended far beyond his goals. His general play, as it always is at Tottenham, was simply astounding – with his technical ability on display in droves. When you throw in his expert set pieces, high work-rate and quality on the ball, Eriksen’s role in this team becomes clear.

A repeat performance for his club this weekend could prove impossible for Arsenal to deal with. They’ll no doubt be focused on controlling Dele Alli and Harry Kane, and that could give Eriksen the onus he needs to take this game by the scruff of its neck and make his name famous in London too. If he can play half as well as he did in the week, then Arsenal may have no chance.
