The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern still can’t believe their side’s performance on Wednesday. The Lilywhites were simply sensational at Wembley against Real Madrid, with a 3-1 win coming as a surprise to everyone in the Transfer Tavern. Undoubtedly, it was their best performance of the season, and there was more than a few individual performances to note.
Kieran Trippier was one player that looked particularly good, with the Englishman impressing on the flanks of the Spurs defence. It’s been a strong season for him, which is surprising given the recent acquisition of Serge Aurier. His arrival, at least according to those in the Transfer Tavern, was expected to spell the end of Trippier’s time in the first team, but he has since gone from strength to strength.
Against Real Madrid he was sensational. Strong defensively, potent offensively and energetic down the wings, he provided everything that Tottenham needed, and that has left fans calling for him to start this weekend too. It’s been a fairly even split between him and Aurier for much of the campaign, but on the back of that performance, the Englishman surely has got to start for his club.
Aurier has looked good, but Pochettino has always been a manager to value consistency – and Trippier has that in droves.
