Chelsea

This £300k-per-week Chelsea deal would be Abramovich’s best move of the summer – here’s why

According to the Evening Standard, Eden Hazard could be about to be offered a new £300,000-per-week contract, and the fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted…

The move, though undoubtedly a massive financial burden for the Blues, would certainly be worth the outlay, and our landlord even thinks that it could become the deal of the summer for Chelsea.

You only have to consider how impressive Eden Hazard has been this season. He has scored 15 goals in the Premier League, but his contributions go so much further than that. He delivers on so many fronts: he is able to transition the play from midfield to attack so ruthlessly, and oftentimes this season it has been the Belgian that has been able to break down opposition defences before anybody else.

It would not be an overstatement to suggest that without Hazard, Chelsea wouldn’t be where they are right now. Alongside Pedro and Diego Costa, the Belgian has proven himself as one of Europe’s best – and if Chelsea are serious about returning to the top of the European pile, he simply must be retained. He is a proven Premier League talent, and sure, Chelsea could replace him, but they would struggle to find some with as much raw talent as the Belgian.

His retention means far more than Chelsea being better on the field though. It would also speak volumes about Antonio Conte and Roman Abramovich’s empire. It would prove that Chelsea aren’t a selling club, it would also prove that they are able to hold on to best talents, and more importantly build upon the quality of their squad – firing Chelsea back to the top of Europe.

It is a big move, and a very expensive one, but Hazard is worth every penny.
