This 62-year-old boss has emerged as surprise candidate for Chelsea job

Manuel PellegriniThe Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern remain an anxious bunch, as they continue to hear of speculation over who will take over as the club’s new manager come the end of the season.

Dutchman Guus Hiddink is currently doing a grand job and the Blues supporters are somewhat perplexed as to why his name hasn’t been brandished around, as a more permanent successor to Jose Mourinho.

One ardent Chelsea fan has spotted an article in the Daily Star which indicates that current Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has emerged as a surprise choice under consideration from the Chelsea board.

Pellegrini will leave City in the summer and the Chilean is thought to be under serious consideration by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, although Italy boss Antonio Conte remains the favourite for the role.

Our knowledgeable landlord can’t believe it has taken this long for a club such as Chelsea to emerge as candidates to take a chance on Pellegrini, stating that he has a top manager and deserves a job at a top European club.

Chelsea fans… Would Pellegrini be a good choice as your new manager? Would he win you back the Premier League? Who do you think the club should appoint?
