The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager for Mauricio Pochettino’s men to continue their progression this season. It has been a stellar few years of growth for the Lilywhites, with a side built on quality young players and impressive management really coming into its own. They’ve gone from Europa League challengers to Premier League contenders, and that’s a testament to the fantastic quality at the club.
However, if they want to really solidify themselves at the top, further improvement needs to come, and so it’s no real surprise than recent reports from Diario Gol have quietly linked Gareth Bale with a move back to Tottenham. Though it still remains unlikely to happen, our landlord is firmly behind the prospect, and he thinks that Bale would be the perfect signing for Tottenham.
On a basic level, you only have to look at what Bale can do to understand just how good this could be for Tottenham. When available, he’s one of Europe’s best. A natural winger, he can play across the attack to devastating force, utilising his fantastic pace, power and accuracy to provide some of the most remarkable feats of attacking prowess. He’s held his own amongst the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in recent years, and that’s a testament to his quality.
What’s more, owing to his time with Tottenham prior to moving to Spain, he’s already well versed in the demands of the Premier League, meaning that there will be no need for an adjustment period. He would come in and immediately make a likely massive impact, giving Spurs just what they need straight away.
Football is more than just the game on the field, though. Tottenham are now a worldwide brand, and if Daniel Levy wants to continue to expose his brand to the world, he needs big names and recognizable faces to plaster over posters and shirts around the world. Bale is a fantastic candidate for that.
Of course, this prospective move is not without its negatives. He’s been injury prone lately, and that has impacted his reputation. What’s more, he’d also likely demand a massive transfer fee, leaving question marks over whether Tottenham could afford such a deal. However, that being said, this isn’t something that Tottenham can afford to turn down if he is available. The positives far outweigh the negatives. For Tottenham to take a step forward, they should take a step back and re-sign Bale – agreed?
