The Chelsea squad is full of quality at the moment and is set for another overhaul in the summer if manager Antonio Conte is to get his way and bring in some real world class talent to Stamford Bridge.
The current Premier League champions don’t look anything like sealing a repeat of their success from last season this time around and it make sense that the Italian manager will be looking for players of the highest calibre in this summer’s market.
Here in the Tavern, our Blues fans have been having a good old chat about their team, fresh off the back of a 1-1 draw with Barcelona at the Bridge this week in the Champions League.
Some of those discussions have indeed turned to the summer and the squad in general, and our landlord has mentioned his belief that Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas should be looking to move on and get a move back to his homeland.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder has been instrumental for the Blues over the last few years, but now, at 30, and not always a regular under Conte, a move back to the more casual style of play offered in La Liga could be a fitting end for Fabregas.
This is not to say there isn’t plenty of life left in the playmaker, far from it. However, ‘Cesc’ has never been one for sprinting about and putting the mileage in, and his style of play, passing game, and calmness could be of great value to those teams in Spain hoping to usurp the likes of Madrid and Barcelona over the coming seasons.
Chelsea fans, what do you think? Should Cesc leave? Let us know in the comments!
