The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are concerned about their side’s lack of offensive depth. Much has been made of their lack of striking options, but Antonio Conte is hardly blessed with attacking midfielders, too.
Beyond the trio of Willian, Eden Hazard and Pedro, the Blues lack experienced quality – and so Conte would be wise to invest in this area before February 1st. It’s always a tough spot to fill, but one player that could be available and would fit in nicely is Lucas Moura.
Currently playing for PSG, Moura is reportedly set for the exit door – and Chelsea should look to capitalise.
One of the most technically gifted attackers currently playing in Europe, it’s fair to say that he could make quite the impact at Stamford Bridge. Incredible with the ball at his feet, the way he glides past players using tricks and clever ball movement is eerily reminiscent of Eden Hazard – and together, they could be an unstoppable duo.
Moura may have been neglected in Paris this season, but his form last season hardly justifies his lack of game time. He picked up a pretty solid 12 goals and 5 assists in the league, which is a pretty decent record, picking up a 7.4 average rating along the way (according to Who Scored).
Though it seems like he has been around forever, Moura is still just 25-years-old. When you consider that both Pedro and Willian will be in their 30s by the end of next year, it makes the prospect of signing Moura a particularly exciting one. He’d be able to take over the mantle for a number of years.
