Crystal Palace and their new manager Frank De Boer have got off to a miserable start in the Premier League this year, losing all their games and yet to hit the back of the net themselves.
Things will need to turn around quickly for the Dutch manager and the Eagles if he is to remain in the job at Selhurst Park, but one of his deadline day signings could well give the club a boost all around and help De Boer stay in charge.
Our landlord here in the Tavern thinks that the signing of Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool could be one of the biggest captures of the entire window.
The big French defender signed for the Eagles in a deal worth over £20m on deadline day, and will be looking to rekindle the relationship he had with the fans during a loan spell with Palace last term.
His no nonsense defending and enigmatic style made him a firm favourite last year, and his presence at the club can give the entire place a lift if handled correctly.
Sakho will no doubt go straight into the starting line up when players return from international duty, and he will be hoping to inspire his defence to some clean sheets and ultimately help the Eagles to three points week in week out.
Palace fans, what do you think to the signing of Sakho? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
