Swansea City pulled off the miracle escape last term under Paul Clement, as they managed to maintain their Premier League status for another season.
The former Real Madrid coach was a controversial choice as manager of the Swans following his disappointing spell at Derby, and he will be looking to build on the momentum from staying up and make sure the club is not in the same situation next year.
To do so, the Swans will need to add some quality to their ranks, and our landlord here in the Tavern has been getting thoughts off the Swansea fans and having a look at just who the club could look to sign.
One player who the landlord thinks Swansea could make a move for, is former Chelsea man and current Reading star John Swift. The versatile midfielder was with the England under-21’s this summer, and impressed in his appearances for Aidy Boothroyd’s men.
Swift has really come into his own since making the move to Reading though, and finally looks to be fulfilling the obvious potential he showed while at Chelsea as a young man.
His ability to pick out a pass and score the spectacular make him the ideal modern day midfield player, and he is certainly someone who when you look at in detail, fits the mould of what Swansea have historically been all about.
Reading will be hard pushed to sell one of their star man, but if a big bid did come in, then Swift may well fancy chancing his arm in the top flight under Clement.
