Swansea City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that they can survive with a greater degree of comfort this season.
Having marvelled in the joy of beating the drop, Paul Clement’s heroics have reignited optimism that the Swans could target a mid-table finish, or even creep into the top-half of the Premier League.
One player who testified himself as an indispensable figure in their efforts to survive was Fernando Llorente.
The 32-year-old scored 15 goals for Swansea.
Antonio Conte failed to sign the Spaniard in January, and it seems that he’s revoked his interest in the former World Cup winner.
If Llorente departs the club this summer, our landlord believes that the Swans should sign Javier Hernandez.
The 29-year-old is one of the most proficient poachers in football, his speed and tendency to be in the right place at the right time are key features of his game.
Mexico’s all-time leading scorer has prospered in the Bundesliga, scoring 39 goals in 76 games, a ratio of more than a goal every two games.
There’s no certainty that Llorente will leave the Liberty Stadium this transfer window, yet if he does, Swansea will need to sign a player who flaunts a terrific record of scoring goals and is accustomed to the demands of the Premier League, Hernandez ticks all the boxes.
He scored 59 goals in 157 games for the Red Devils, and he has scored 136 club goals in total.
Our landlord believes that Hernandez must become Swansea’s primary target if Llorente departs.
