Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is off on his summer holidays and is letting his board do the work for him in terms of capturing summer transfer targets.
United have recently signed Swedish defender Victor Lindelof, and he will no doubt be just one of a host of big money signings coming into Old Trafford this summer.
Our landlord has spent plenty of his time this week playing darts with the Man United faithful here in the Tavern, and as usual for this time of year, talk has turned firmly to just who the club will look to bring in.
With space in the United squad for some real quality, especially at the back, one player who has been mentioned this week is France and Monaco star Benjamin Mendy.
Part of the current crop of Monaco players who are garnering so much attention, an argument can be made to call Mendy the pick of the entire bunch in what is a seriously talented group for the Ligue 1 outfit.
Mendy offers blistering pace from full back, and fits the mould of what modern day right and left backs are expected to be like. United could well do with some real quality out wide at the back, with Antonio Valencia pretty much out on his own as the most consistent full back at the club, while question marks continue to hang over Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian.
The signing of someone like Mendy could be a real boost to the club, and he is someone who would give United’s attacking play another dimension.
United fans, what do you think to this? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
