This impressive 20-year-old Man Utd man deserves to start against Chelsea – agreed?

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern were very impressed with the performance of Scott McTominay against Benfica. The young midfielder was given his chance by Jose Mourinho – and he grabbed it with both hands. Playing with the composure of a player many years his senior, it would have been easy to mistake him for a seasoned veteran.

Indeed, at just 20-years-old, he has a very bright future ahead of him, but the present doesn’t look too bad for the Englishman either. That is, if Jose Mourinho continues to utilise him at least. Mourinho has earned a reputation for his lack of trust in young players, but could that tune be changing now?

The only way to really find out is by seeing how McTominay’s future pans out, and if Mourinho picks his teams based on merit, perhaps the midfielder could even get his chance as early as this weekend against Chelsea. He stood out amongst a team of highly-regarded players, and he looked more than comfortable alongside Nemanja Matic. Given the lack of options that Mourinho has in the midfield at present, due to a number of injury problems, it could be the perfect setting for him.

It won’t be easy, and playing against Man Utd at Stamford Bridge will be a baptism of fire, but our landlord reckons that he will impress. Do you agree? Should he start? Vote below and let us know!
