‘This is a worry’ – Leeds United fans react after Heckingbottom’s summer comments

Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been responding to Paul Heckingbottom’s press conference today (as tweeted by Phil Hay), in which he claimed that the club doesn’t need an overhaul in the summer, but admitted that things at Elland Road do need to change.

The Whites who have been propping our bar up have suffered a torrid start to 2018, as the Yorkshire club have only won one game since the turn of the year, a 1-0 win over Brentford, as the club’s early promotion ambitions have fizzled out again. Leeds started the season in great form under manager, Thomas Christiansen and even found themselves top of the Championship for two weeks in September. However, things soon turned sour, prompting the club to add Christensen to the long list of ex-Leeds managers as they hoped to their form around.

The club now finds themselves in a bit of a rut. A 2-2 draw away at struggling Reading came off the back of successive 3-0 thumpings from Wolves and Middlesbrough, as Heckingbottom’s side find themselves 13th in England’s second tier and destined to suffer another year out of the Premier League. Leeds fans will be hoping Heckingbottom can turn the club’s form around as the Elland Road faithful target a return to the Premier League in the next few years.
