The Leicester City fans who are competing in a darts tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by their top striker about his training regime.
The Guardian is reporting that Jamie Vardy is kept fresh by Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri by rationing his shooting drills.
Ranieri is thought to take this measure with the England international in a bid to save him from weariness in his legs, and it seems to be working to the players advantage after hitting more than 20 goals for the Premier League leaders this season so far.
Speaking about his training, Vardy said: “I don’t really get the chance to practise that much on my finishing because we have our shooting drills early in the week when the gaffer’s wanting me to rest my legs.
“So normally, when there’s a bit of shooting, the gaffer tells me to go inside! I’ll keep doing that if it means I’m saving my legs – and goals – for games.”
The Leicester fans in The Tavern have been delighted with Vardy’s form this season and hope that the club can continue their excellent campaign, by completing an excellent season to the high standards they have set themselves and clinch the Premier League title!
Our landlord here in the Tavern is happy to finally know why Jamie Vardy has been so prolific this season, and feels this training method should be utilised by other clubs!
