Manchester United

This Man United player would be a seamless fit for West Bromwich Albion

The Baggies fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping the rumours linking their club with Chris Smalling turn out to be true.

After falling out of favour at Man United, rumours have surfaced that West Brom are going to make a move for Chris Smalling.

Ever since Jose Mourinho took up the role as Man United manager, Smalling has continued to fall down the pecking order.

This is down to a mixture of re-occurring injuries and signings like Eric Bailly making their way to the club.

Because of that, Smalling made just 13 starts in the league last season.

Tony Pulis expressed interest in signing the 27-year-old at the end of last season and it appears that interest has remained.

Pulis will be keen to ensure Smalling joins the Baggies after missing out on John Terry and Kurt Zouma, who joined Aston Villa and Stoke respectively.

Our landlord thinks Smalling could probably join a better club than West Brom, but if Smalling is willing to join then he would be a fantastic addition to the side.

Standing at six foot four, Smalling is a towering figure in defence and would partner Jonny Evans perfectly.

With plenty of experience playing for one of the league’s best teams, Smalling could be a figure in the dressing room and someone who helps fix West Brom’s leaky defence.
