Man City look to be in electric form at the start of this season as Pep Guardiola appears to have got everything right and has finally got his side clicking.
City sit joint top of the Premier League and will be hoping to maintain their form throughout the season and claim back their title which they relinquished to Chelsea last term.
The club brought in a whole host of new talent in the summer while also managing to keep hold of their star men like Sergio Aguero and David Silva.
Our landlord though here in the Tavern thinks that there is one man in the City squad though who is more important than anyone, and he does not fall into the realms of one of their attacking talents. That man? Midfield stalwart Fernandinho.
In a system which is full to the brim of pacey attacking talent and relies on a high pressing style, the Brazilian midfielder is the glue which seemingly holds it all together. Fernandinho sits just in front of his back four, protecting them and doing an excellent job of disrupting opposition attacks, but he is also full of running, and is able to contribute up the pitch too.
Fernandinho’s engine and fitness mark him out as a standout central midfielder in the Premier League in somewhat of a dying field of his type. His form, fitness, and performances in the middle of the park will be a crucial factor in City having any sort of success this season.
City fans, what do you think? Is Fernandinho the man for you? Let us know!
