Manchester City appear to have all but wrapped up the Premier League title this season under Pep Guardiola, with the Blue half of Manchester treating the punters here in the Tavern to some of the finest football we have seen in England.
Pep and his players have been playing a brand of football usually associated with the very very best in Europe, and it is no surprise to see them on cruise control in the Champions League either, a competition the City players will be desperate to win.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord has been in awe of the City squad for a number of years now, but he thinks a couple of the current crop could do with playing week in week out if City are really going to reap the rewards down the line.
One such talent is midfielder Phil Foden, who has been part of the City squad for much of this season after impressing ‘Pep’ in the summer and featuring heavily for the England youth set up and their World Cup success in 2017.
However, development can only be fully achieved with some game time under his belt, and next season could see Foden on the bench yet again. This is where a loan move to the Championship, or the lower regions of the Premier League could be really beneficial for Foden.
A class act and looking like he has all the ability in the world, Foden would no doubt improve ten-fold given the chance of regular football, and City would then be able to feel the benefits of this further down the line as he looks to break into the City line up.
Man City fans, what do you think? Good move? Let us know in the comments!
