The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern don’t seem too bothered either way about the season-long departure of Kenedy, but they may care soon.
Reports from the Mirror say that Newcastle have signed Chelsea youngster Kenedy on a season-long loan.
The Brazilian spent last season on loan at Watford but injuries blighted what would have been his breakout season.
Our landlord believes that if Kenedy can stay fit during his time at St James’ Park, then he could turn into one of the brightest starlets in the Premier League.
It is doubtful that the 21-year-old will be breaking into the Chelsea first team any time soon so if this loan spell proves successful, it could turn into a permanent move.
If this happens, the landlord reckons Kenedy could be the latest ‘what if’ story to come out of Chelsea in the past few years.
The last three years have seen two former Chelsea players who were underused at the club, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, become two of the most sought-after players in Europe.
Now it would be jumping the gun a bit to suggest Kenedy will turn into a world class superstar, but he definitely has the potential to play for a top team in one of Europe’s big leagues.
Newcastle fans should be excited about the prospect of the Brazilian featuring in their team next year.
