Everton had a decent season last year, but Ronald Koeman is already making an effort to ensure that next season is even better…
Our resident Toffees fans in the Transfer Tavern are going wild about the crazy summer of transfer activity ahead of them at Goodison Park this offseason, and a number of names are being bandied around by this passionate bunch.
Today’s topic of discussion over a lunchtime serving of pie and chips is the replacement of Romelu Lukaku, who looks set for a big-money move to a Champions League club in the coming months – with many fans in the pub concerned that he is irreplaceable.
A quick chat with our landlord as he delivered their grub changed all their opinions, though, with our boss recommending a move for West Brom’s Salomon Rondon.
The big Venezuelan has impressed since his club record move from Zenit in Russia, and has found the net in a Baggies side that struggled for goals last season – picking up 8 over the course of the Premier League season.
Prolific throughout his career for both club and country, the striker would surely find form surrounded by Everton’s array of glittering assets, and would be an excellent replacement for Lukaku. At 27-years-old, he is only going to get better for a few years at least, so he would be a great option.
Although Lukaku likes to play on the shoulder of the last man whereas Rondon does not, the pair share many similar attributes, and if Koeman can get him firing at Goodison then the Dutchman could be onto a winner. He doesn’t carry the star power of Lukaku, but he will let his feet do the talking.
