There are an array of Leicester fans here in the Transfer Tavern and they seem to have mixed feelings about Riyad Mahrez possibly leaving.
If the rumours are to be believed, Roma are lining up a bid for Leicester City winger, Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian played a crucial role in Leicester’s odds-defying Premier League winning side of the 2015/16 season.
Last season wasn’t his best, scoring only six goals and providing four assists in 36 league games.
Compare that to the title winning season where he managed 17 goals and 10 assists in 37 games, it became clear the player should have left when he could have done.
If Mahrez does depart for the rumoured £30 million this summer, then Leicester will need to quickly find a competent replacement.
So, step forward Eduardo Salvio
The Argentinian winger currently plays his football in the Portuguese league for current champions, Benfica.
Salvio is a very similar player to Mahrez. He isn’t the fastest player but his ability on the ball is brilliant.
His passing is arguably better than the Leicester City players and as a player, he is more interested in setting team mates up than scoring the goals himself.
If Leicester can manage to complete the signing of Man City’s Kelechi Iheanacho, then Salvio’s ability to put the ball in the box can pair up perfectly with the Nigerian’s finishing ability.
It is also likely that the 27-year-old won’t cost Leicester as much as Mahrez will cost Roma so Leicester will be making some profit out of all of this too.
