The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Mauricio Pochettino is going to bring in a few new faces in January. The Spurs boss has built quite the reputation when it comes to his transfer dealings, with many relatively unknown players moving to North London and impressing under the Argentine.
Another deal of that ilk could be enough to force the club into the top four, and one player that could be the perfect signing is Lazio attacker Luis Alberto, formerly of Liverpool.
The 25-year-old – who is rated at £13.5 million by Transfer Markt – has spent much of his career as a nomad, having struggled through disappointing spells in Spain and England, before settling in Italy with Lazio in 2016. Since that point, his career has flourished.
An exciting attacking midfielder, Alberto provides excellent passing and dribbling, allowing his team to move forward and create offensively. This season, in particular, he has been incredible, emerging as one of Serie A’s best players along the way. According to WhoScored.com, he has picked up an average league rating of 7.85, putting him amongst some of Europe’s best performers. With 6 goals and 7 assists in the league this season, it’s no real surprise that he has been rated so highly.
For all of Tottenham’s offensive quality, Pochettino’s men have lacked potency on occasion this term – with both Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli drawing criticism in the Transfer Tavern. Bringing Alberto in would allow Pochettino another top-tier option as he looks to enjoy a fruitful second-half of the season.
