The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern were pleased with their side’s display against Chelsea in general on Saturday, but they were dismayed by the performance of Daniel Sturridge. The Englishman failed once again to impress our resident Reds, with Chelsea’s defence standing strong against the former Blue.
It is timely, then, that reports linking Liverpool with a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have returned (Bild via the Daily Mail). According to the report, the Gabon forward could be on a collision course towards the exit from his current club, and the Reds are touted as holding an interest.
This has really perked the interest of the fans in the Transfer Tavern, and it’s easy to see why. He bagged a remarkable 31 league goals last season, highlighting his efficiency in front of goal. Displaying all the characteristics of a top forward – pace, power, technique, goalscoring – there is arguably no finer finisher in all of Europe.
It would be no real surprise, then, if Liverpool were to make a move, and our landlord thinks that he would be the perfect signing for the club. They have lacked a genuine, world-class forward since the departure of Luiz Suarez, and he thinks that Aubameyang would be the perfect option.
He won’t be an easy or cheap player to target, but what a signing he would be.
