Our Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to get back to title challenging again next year after a little slump this time around compared to their previous season.
Many in the bar believe, for Spurs to level up next year, they need to add to Harry Kane up front. The England man has done a great job of being the sole striker over the years and with no real back up or competition he has led the line with ease. However, it is surely time Pochettino brought in a world-class striker to both partner and challenge Kane, which can only push him onwards to up his game.
Indeed, if they had two marquee marksmen to rely on next season, there’s every chance Tottenham could finally win the league.
The Lillywhites have come up short in most things over the past few years, with our punters believing that having a quality alternative to Kane being one of the issues that need addressing this summer by the Argentine.
There are plenty of talent across Europe to pick from and Spurs are an attractive proposition for many a player looking to progress their game. With that in mind, our landlord believes that Pochettino needs to concentrate his energy solely on bringing in this strike partner this summer…
OUR VERDICT – Ciro Immobile
The Italian striker is having a fantastic season so far in Serie A with Lazio and is amongst the most prolific strikers in Europe. Indeed, the forward has scored 41 times in the 46 games across all competitions so far this season and is having no problems finding the back of the net, something that will challenge Kane to level up.
Spurs need a striker with that ability at the moment to push them on to trophies. Past Kane in the squad, there are no other quality strikers to step in and provide the team with the same level of goals and performances that the Englishman does.
With a striker like Immobile in the team, Spurs could mount a serious challenge for the Premier League next year.
