Chelsea’s loan system can be frustrating at times, but the fans in the Transfer Tavern are convinced that a few major names are going to graduate into the first team over the coming years.
There are a number of talented young starlets in the on-loan ranks that look destinated to make an impact at Stamford Bridge. One such player is Kenedy, who is currently away at Newcastle.
The Brazilian has seriously impressed since moving north, having been given a real opportunity by Rafael Benitez. Having played in a few positions, he has settled on the left-hand side, and he has provided some brilliant quality for the Magpies. Bringing great dribbling, technique, running and pace, the 22-year-old is finally living up to his potential.
His highlight reel is already several minutes long from this season alone, with a number of absolutely sensational and inventive skills and tricks making him a favourite amongst our YouTube-loving contingent in the Transfer Tavern.
At Chelsea, he typically played at left-back, despite having a history in the attack, and whilst our landlord doesn’t envision him replacing Marcos Alonso any time soon, he is backing the Brazilian to be the future of the Chelsea attack.
This season, the Blues have lacked creativity going forward. They have players that can turn a game on its head in an instant, but Eden Hazard and Pedro, in particular, have not been at the best over the last few months, and so Chelsea have been unable to break teams down. Kenedy, though, posses that uncanny ability to make an impact and produce magic with his incredible technical skill – and so he could be just what Chelsea need.
Antonio Conte needs something different. He needs someone that is unpredictable and incredibly talented. When Kenedy returns this summer, then, the 22-year-old could be just what Chelsea’s faltering attack needs.
