‘This would be perfect’, ‘Similar impact to Mo Salah’ – Man United fans encouraged by latest transfer rumour on Twitter

The Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to getting their FA Cup campaign underway against Derby County on Friday evening.

Manchester United made the perfect start to the new year with an excellent result away at Everton on New Year’s Day, as they ended their run of three straight draws with a 2-0 victory at Goodison Park. Next up for United is a tricky looking home tie against promotion-chasing Derby County at Old Trafford this Friday. Prior to their home cup tie, Mourinho will certainly be reminding his squad about their recent defeat against Bristol City in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, to ensure there is no hint of complacency when they face The Rams.

Mourinho will be particularly keen to ensure his side are in razor sharp form this weekend because Manchester City’s 15 point lead at the top of the Premier League suggests the FA Cup is now United’s most realistic chance of winning silverware this season.

United’s chances of lifting any trophy this season will be boosted by the arrival of new players during the January transfer window, especially if they are able to land a player of Lucas Moura’s calibre.

And United could be in luck this January, as according to The Sun Mourinho is lining up a move for PSG’s Brazilian winger this month in a deal that could be worth £40 million.

Lucas has faced stiff competition for places in Paris this season with Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler all vying for a spot in Unai Emery’s starting eleven.

As such, Lucas has only played 71 minutes of Ligue 1 football all season, but that has certainly not prevented the Red Devils from expressing an interest in his services on Twitter.

Here’s what the supporters had to say about United’s links with Lucas Moura…
