Chelsea have had an up and down campaign this season which has seen them struggling to make the top four and crashing out of Europe to Barcelona following their capitulation at the Camp Nou a few weeks back.
The Blues and manager Antonio Conte have had their disagreements over the course of the season and the summer looks set to be a big test for the club and if they are willing to back their manager, with Conte likely to want to spend big again on bringing in new players.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord has been having a fair few good chats with the Blues fans over the last few weeks, and the conclusion has been reached that there could well be some in the Chelsea squad who need to move on before any new players are brought in.
One such player who might benefit from a move away from the club is Brazilian defender David Luiz, who has somewhat dropped down the pecking order this term following injury and reported fall out with his manager.
Luiz though still does have a lot to offer, and if he can rediscover the form of last season, then he can be an asset to any club in the Premier League.
A larger than life character and someone with bags of experience at the top level, Luiz would certainly interest plenty of parties if he became available. Despite his obvious flaws, he is excellent on the ball, and is strong in the tackle too when needed. His passion resonates among his teammates, and for a club with less expectancy on it than Chelsea, he could well be a revelation.
Chelsea fans, what do you think? Good move for Luiz to go? Let us know in the comments!
