Time For Plan B: McLeish Eyes Tottenham Star To Boost His Midfield Options

Sky Sports News have, in the last few minutes, suggested Alex McLeish has turned his attention to Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

Having just missed out in a late approach for Joe Cole, who opted to join Champions League side Lille, McLeish has turned his attention to supposedly long term target Jermaine Jenas.

Jenas has been dealing with speculation over his Spurs future for several seasons and a link to Villa has never never failed to have been mooted – whatever manager is in charge of either club.

Villa have been moving players on all summer and clearing their wage bill for a deadline day signing or two and since Cole has opted against the Birmingham-based side, Jenas is the next port of call.

He is English,¬†combative and comes with international experience but he is still not the most popular footballer on the planet. His nickname ‘Marmite’ suggests the obvious – some love him, some hate him. Most Villa fans over the years have expressed their concern over the potential signing of the player but with the squad looking very thin, perhaps he would be welcomed?

What is your opinion of Jermaine Jenas? What fee is he worth and is he worth the wages?
