Arsenal were made to fight for their win against Cardiff as the Bluebirds came back from a goal down twice.

Ultimately, Arsenal's quality won out in the end with Alexandre Lacazette the best player on the pitch. Going forward, the Gunners looked like they carried a threat whenever they got into the final third.

Defensively, however, Arsenal looked a bit shaky. Shkodran Mustafi seemed to revert back to the defender the fans saw for most of last season. He may have scored Arsenal's first goal but he didn't do his defensive job and was part of a defence that allowed Cardiff to score two goals.

Petr Cech also caught the eye today but not for a good reason. As we've seen already this season, the former Chelsea man is not great with the ball at his feet and almost cost Arsenal a goal today.

Despite his performance with the ball at his feet, Emery admitted that he will continue to demand that his team plays out from the back.

The Breakdown

Petr Cech has never really been asked to play out from the back during his career and it's quite obvious. Against Cardiff, the experienced goalkeeper was almost caught out and it looks as though he may be a target for opposing teams from now on.

Starting Cech at the beginning made of the season made absolute sense from Emery given the magnitude of the matches. However, with Bernd Leno waiting in the wings who is more technical, the question remains: how long will it be until the German comes in?
