Newcastle United continue to put up an excellent fight against relegation as manager Rafa Benitez continues to work miracles despite limited transfer market activity over the last six months.
A big win over Manchester United last weekend was enough to breath new life into the Magpies’ season, and the Toon Army have been in a buoyant mood this week here in the Tavern, enjoying plenty of beers which our landlord has only been too happy to serve.
It the Toon can stay in the top flight, then the summer will have a big bearing on the following season, with Benitez hoping for new owners in place willing to back him in the market. However, despite wanting new players, our landlord also thinks a few need to be sent on their way out of St James’ Park.
One such player is Spanish striker Joselu, who despite only signing from Stoke in the summer, has endured a miserable time of things in the main in the famous black and white, and has simply not provided the goals he was expected too.
Often looking short on confidence and with little about him to make him stand out as a certain type of centre forward who is key for his team, Joselu could well find himself moved on as Newcastle and Benitez seek out alternatives in attacking areas.
It would be little surprise to see the former Stoke man moved on this summer, freeing up a space for Benitez to go and replace the Spaniard with someone of genuine quality.
Newcastle fans, what do you think? Time to get rid of Joselu? Let us know!
