Arsenal seem to have got a new lease of life so to speak after finally putting to bed the saga surrounding Alexis Sanchez, and they will be hoping for an excellent finish to the Premier League season as they seek to secure a top four spot.
The Gunners have at times looked excellent, but there is also still question marks about certain members of the squad, and our landlord here in the Tavern is of the opinion that Arsene Wenger needs to seriously consider cutting a few players from his squad this summer.
One such player who he thinks fits into this category is central midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who has always struggled to cement a regular spot in the starting line-up at the Emirates.
The Egyptian has been a bit of a nearly man in terms of his selection with the Gunners, often being called upon to come in and fill a role vacated by someone else, rather than sealing a spot in the first team for himself.
While Elneny is a capable enough performer on his day, he’s not really got the quality to push Arsenal to the next level or make them any sort of serious threat in terms of Champions League football.
Plenty of clubs though will be willing to take a punt on Elneny, and Arsene Wenger should certainly have no problem moving on the versatile midfielder if he decides enough is enough this summer.
Arsenal fans, what do you think to this? Good decision to move Elneny on? Let us know in the comments!
