The resident Citizens faithful were celebrating yet another victory in the Premier League yesterday evening, but there was one small disappointment for the club last night.
Manchester City travelled to St James’ Park last night as red-hot favourites given their current run of form in the Premier League and their impeccable record on Tyneside in recent years. Guardiola’s side made absolutely no mistake in continuing their incredible run of form in the league and in the North-East, with a narrow 1-0 victory courtesy of Raheem Sterling’s 13th league goal of the season in City blue.
Kevin de Bruyne once again turned provider with a wonderfully floated through ball over the top of The Magpies firm defensive unit, which Sterling placed beyond Rob Elliot with a left-footed half-volley that tickled the inside of the post on its way into the net.
Newcastle rarely threatened to score a shock equaliser, but there were a few nervy moments for City en route to their 18th straight victory in the Premier League.
Overall it was a good night for the league-leaders, however, City’s captain Vincent Kompany was once again forced off with an injury after just 11 minutes on only his 9th appearance of the season in all competitions.
And considering his horrendous record with injuries in recent years, it appears that the Manchester City fans on Twitter are reluctantly starting to face the reality that Kompany’s time at the club could be coming to an end.
Here’s how the supporters on Twitter reacted to Kompany’s injury…
Pep is obviously fed up with kompany. Handcuffing the team. Never reliable. Sorry Kompany City has given u plenty of time to prove u can stay healthy. Its time for u to move on or graduate to coaching. Thanks for everything @VincentKompany u r a city hero @kkfla737

Time to move into coaching now for kompany, how many more chances can he have, holding up the team now. Every good thing comes to an end eventually.

Surely he trains all week fine and that includes high intensity training games? I don’t understand how he always gets injured in games!
