Aston Villa have really begun to motor in the Championship now and many are now considering the Villans as firm favourites for promotion under experienced manager Steve Bruce.
The club have started putting together an excellent run of results, and with the team set-up meaning they are defensively sound, they are becoming increasingly hard to beat, especially at Villa Park.
Since relegation from the Premier League, Villa have struggled to hit any sort of form, and our landlord here in the Tavern has long been expecting the club to make a challenge. With January just around the corner and Bruce openly admitting the club might need to sell before they buy, the feeling here in the Tavern is that a few Villa players could be up for the chopping block.
One such player who must be looking over his shoulder is big money signing Scott Hogan, who since moving to the club from Brentford, has struggled for any sort of form and fitness, with the Villa Park crowd becoming increasingly frustrated at some of his performances.
With Villa hitting form and Hogan not exactly being a massive factor in that run, his time at the club might well come to an end. It’s not all entirely his fault, but he is one player who they can command a good fee for, and if Bruce feels the need for new signings, then Hogan might well be sold to fund any potential January moves.
Villa fans, what do you think? Should Hogan be sold? Let us know!
