Title party: Man City’s £99m-rated superstar can tear Swansea apart today

Excitement is building amongst the Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern who are getting ready to celebrate their third Premier League title when they face Swansea City tomorrow afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side were foiled by Manchester United a fortnight ago in their attempt to win the title with a victory in the Manchester derby, but the Red Devils defeat against rock-bottom West Bromwich Albion just one week later ensured that they will be given a guard of honour by the travelling Swans later today. Manchester City thoroughly deserve their title victory and the array of plaudits they have taken this year for their performances, and they will be hoping to kick-off the celebrations with an emphatic victory against Swansea.

City’ dominance in the top-flight was highlighted in the PFA Team of the Year earlier this week as five players from the club were named in the team, namely Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne. All of the aforementioned players were worthy of their accolade, but it’s fair to say that the latter has been a cut above the rest so far this season.

The Chelsea supporters must have been watching on with feelings of resentment and regret whilst De Bruyne and Mo Salah have torn up the Premier League this season, and they may be forced to do so once again this weekend when the Belgian superstar is bound to be in a clinical mood.

De Bruyne (valued at £99 million by Transfermarkt) will be eager to put on a spectacle for the supporters to remember on the day when they will be officially crowned as champions of the Premier League for the third time since 2012, so the Swans could be set for a tough afternoon trying to contain him. His ability to drift into space and play incisive assesses which plenty of top players would not even have the audacity to attempt is a joy to behold, unless you’re playing against him of course.

The 26-year-old’s record of 11 goals and 20 assists from 28 appearances in all-competitions this season is already a staggering return for a player who contributes so much more than just goals and assists, but the Citizens faithful should firmly expect him to add to his record today on an afternoon when Guardiola’s newly-crowned champions should be in fine form.
