Title-winning midfielder reveals Chelsea dream

Willian is a real fan favourite amongst the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern…

The Brazilian was the only player to impress during Chelsea’s 2015/16 season, eventually and deservedly winning the in-house Player of the Year award at Stamford Bridge.

Last season he continued on a similar trajectory, continuing to impress in difficult circumstances. Conte didn’t seem to rate him as highly as Jose Mourinho, but that didn’t stop him from impressing when given the opportunity to do so.

He received markedly less game time last season, and so the fans in the Transfer Tavern have been concerned that he could have looked to leave this summer. After all, he could start for the majority of Europe’s top sides – but it doesn’t look like the Brazilian has any plans of quitting Chelsea any time soon.

To the contrary, it looks like Willian wants to be at Chelsea for the long-haul – with the midfielder recently confirming to Goal that he has big plans for his Chelsea tenure.

He said: “I dream of winning more titles with Chelsea, win a Champions League and Fifa Club World Cup with Chelsea and be one of the best players in the world”.

Willian clearly has huge expectations, but it seems as though he is confident that he can achieve them at Stamford Bridge. Crucially, he is keen to point out that he wants to achieve this all whilst at Chelsea, hinting that he doesn’t want to leave the club.

Landlord’s Verdict

News of Willian’s desire to stay at Chelsea and win trophies will come as music to the ears of the fans in the Transfer Tavern, with supporters desperate for him to stay at the club.

He is one of Chelsea’s most consistent players, and he proved in the 2015/16 season just how good he can be when he is on form.

With Eden Hazard set to miss the first few weeks of the 2017/18 season, the Brazilian has a real chance to make an impact.
