Jacob Walcott the cousin of Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, has been linked with a move to Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht, The Mirror reports.
Walcott, 19, currently at Reading, spent some of last season on loan at Dutch second-tier side Telstar. During his short spell here, Walcott netted just twice in fourteen appearances. Prior to this Walcott had a brief spell at Conference South outfit Staines Town, where he failed to find the net in five appearances.
According to The Mirror’s report, Utrecht could be persuaded to bring Walcott in as he wouldn’t cost a great deal.
West Brom boss Roy Hodgson is keen to bring ex England U-21 international Liam Ridgewell to the Hawthorns, according to The Express and Star.
According to the report, Birmingham City have had two bids rejected, with the two clubs failing to agree on a fee.
Ridgewell, 27, joined Birmingham from bitter rivals Aston Villa in 2007. If he signed for The Baggies, Ridgewell would join Kevin Phillips as one of the few players to play for all three big West Midlands clubs.
Cardiff City have had a £500,000 offer for Blackpool winger Matt Phillips turned down, with Bolton Wanderers also showing interest report the The Daily Mail.
The 20 year old has shown a lot of promise season, scoring five goals in six appearances during his loan spell at Sheffield United.
Phillips signed from Wycombe on deadline day in August 2010. He has been capped at U-19 and U-20 levels for England.
Meanwhile, reports that Nicky Maynard is close to leaving Bristol City to join Wigan Athletic are far from the truth, according to BBC Sport.
The report states that Wigan have only made an ‘informal’ enquiry, and are ‘disappointed’ at reports that say Maynard is in ‘advanced talks’.
Finally, Leeds United defender Alex Bruce could be on his way to join the likes of Robbie Keane, David Beckham and Landon Donovan at LA Galaxy, report Sky Sports.
The two time capped Republic of Ireland international hasn’t featured much for Leeds this season, recently being recalled from a loan spell at Huddersfield town to cover during an injury crisis.
It appears Bruce is surplus to requirements at Elland Road and it looks like he could be joining Jonny Howson through the exit doors.
