Burnley have struggled to ensure consistency so far this season under Sean Dyche, which has had a negative effect on their Premier League position.
The Clarets just haven’t been at their best after securing a European spot in the last campaign, with improvements definitely needed in January. Although, it appears as if one of the club’s first team members is eyeing a potential exit, as according to The Sun on Sunday (via Bristol Post), Tom Heaton is open to joining Bristol City.
Bristol City have today been linked with a return for former goalkeeper Tom Heaton.
Indeed, reports in the Sun on Sunday suggest that Bristol City are looking to sign 32-year-old on a deal for the rest of the season when the January transfer window opens.
And, it’s believed that the goalkeeper would be open to dropping down to the Championship.
Tom Heaton has been one of the most consistent performers for the Clarets in seasons gone by, but injuries have really halted his career in recent times.
And, with Joe Hart performing magnificently in-between the sticks for Burnley this season and Nick Pope waiting in the wings, it’s almost impossible for him to enjoy regular minutes at Turf Moor.
