Well Arsenal fans maybe it’s time to start thinking about next season. Having already lost the Carling Cup final, Champions League and FA Cup Arsenal legend Tony Adams believes Manchester United’s experience will be the reason they pip Arsenal to the Premier League this season.
United are currently top the table, five points ahead of the Gunners, but have played a game more. Speaking to reporters Adams said;
“My heart says the Arsenal but my head says United, they’ve just got too many players who’ve won it before.”When you have done it and you’ve crossed the line, you know when to peak and when not to peak and when to win games. “Once you’ve done it once, you know when to step up to the plate.”
It seems no one is willing to back Arsenal for the title and who could blame given the Gunners failure to take advantage when United have slipped up. The sides are due to meet in May at the Emirates, and Gunners fans will be hoping their team is still within reach of United.
Arsenal will need to win their game in hand to have any chance of claiming the trophy they haven’t lifted since 2004. The London side were unbeatable that year but once again they seem to have come undone at a crucial point in the season.
However Adams isn’t the blaming the manger for any of Arsenal’s mishaps and is full of praise for his former boss; “He is very honest, honest with his players. Physiology is his strength and he’s just been a revolution for Arsenal.”
Although many may disagree with Adams comments given the Frenchman‘s refusal to buy an experienced goalkeeper or defender. Both are looking like bad choices at the moment given Wenger has had to offer Jens Lehmann a temporary contract and Vermaelen has been unavailable all season. Only in May we will find out where the Premier League is going to end up but many believe United will take it, so much so that a former Arsenal hero is willing to back them.
