Our West Brom fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling confident they can still challenge for Europe this season and, as quoted by The Mirror, Tony Pulis’ comments have suggested they could certainly do it.
The Baggies are currently eight in the Premier League table after beating Sunderland last time out and recently sold Saido Berahino to Stoke City.
And, with that money, Tony Pulis wants to reinvest in his side before the end of the window in just over a week’s time – much to the delight of our resident Baggies.
The Welsh manager said:
“I’ve spoken to the chairman John Williams about it and John is keen on us to get a couple in.
“The squad is quite thin and we need to do that.”
Certainly, our landlord agrees that the club’s squad is probably too small for them to sustain their current ambitions for the rest of the year.
The Baggies have shown that they are more than just a defensive side this campaign, though, and the likes of Matt Phillips and Nacer Chadli have really caught the eye.
If they can add more of those kind of calibre players over the coming week or so, then, our landlord believes Europa League football really could be a possibility.
