It’s fair to say the 2012/13 season will be looked back on by Chelsea fans with nothing but disappointment and regret.
The club have endured something of a soap opera campaign on and off the pitch.
The harsh dismissal of a club legend, the appointment of a former hated rival, another racism scandal, supporters venting their fury at every home match, and even an assault from one of their star players on a Swansea City ball boy have dominated the headlines rather than any sort of success on the pitch.
Rafael Benitez has taken the full force of the fans fury, but looking further beyond that you could argue the squad has simply not had enough depth or quality to challenge on all fronts this season in the way supporters would have hoped.
Here we count down 10 moments from the 2012/13 season Chelsea would rather forget. In all honesty, it makes for pretty grim reading. They’ll be hoping the old saying is true, and things can only get better. It’s hard to imagine them getting much worse.
