After the saga that nearly saw Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini leave the Magpies to join Argentinian side San Lorenzo during the January transfer window, Magpies supporters are expecting the worst during the upcoming close season.
Alan Pardew managed to persuade his central defender, whose contract doesn’t expire until 2016, to remain at St. James’ Park until the end of the season but his long-term future still looks unclear after it was confirmed that he wants to leave England for ‘personal reasons’.
Colocinni then wrote an open letter to San Lorenzo in which revealed his disappointment at having to stay in England and thanked the fans for their attempt to get him ‘home’.
Further evidence arrived that the Argentinean hasn’t forgotten about his old club after he was pictured in the stands during one of their recent Primera Division matches and concerns are strong among the Toon Army faithful that he will be leaving in the summer.
That has led to talk about who could step up and replace him in Pardew’s side with Newcastle fans selecting five players that would be suitable successors.
