Liverpool supporters have got that Monday morning feeling worse than usual after seeing their team crash to a third Premier League defeat of the season at West Ham United on Saturday evening.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were deservedly beaten, having showed no improvement from their defensive vulnerabilities last season and no ability to learn from their set piece struggles in last weekend’s defeat to Aston Villa.
The Liverpool boss was quick to admit things aren’t going right for his side at present, citing injuries, big departures and new players still settling as possible reasons why.
The Reds are having to integrate nine new signings into their first team squad whilst top goalscorer and star man from last season Luis Suarez moved to Barcelona.
Add to that the likes of Glen Johnson, Adam Lallana, Joe Allen, Emre Can, Martin Skrtel, and most crucially Daniel Sturridge being absent from the squad at one point or another through injury already this season, you can go some way to understanding why the top four is already starting to look like a big ask this season.
Reds supporters are also frustrated that not enough deadwood was shifted in the summer with some players who have played so far this season clearly not looking up to the task.
With that in mind, we have identified the top five players destined for a Liverpool January axe.
