Top 5 Premeirship Predictions …from a Gooner!

This is always an unenviable, but never more so than just a few games in! With that in mind these predictions take into account my views for the marathon that is the Premiership and not a sprint!

 – Man United

There is no reason why United can’t go on and get the elusive 20th league title with the squad they have assembled this season. With the new arrivals of David De Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, Ferguson will look to re build the team as he has done on many occasions, with this young vibrant side that will no doubt be challenging for major honours.

Manchester City

The noisy neighbours of Manchester are going to be the biggest threat to United’s title. The fans understandably will be delighted with the players that have come in. Where talking world class players here, the calibre of Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri. Mancini’s biggest challenge will be to keep all his players happy and motivated with the wealth of talent at his disposal.

 – Chelsea

They will mount a serious challenge for the title. Much will depend on Chelsea’s new boss Andre Villas- Boas. With all the experience they have in their side the Blues cannot be underestimated.  Whether AVB (as they call him now), will be able to bring the best out of Torres, only time will tell. His ageing squad may be a concern but he will need to be brave enough to cast aside his senior players if required for fresher, younger legs.

Liverpool

Under Kenny Daglish’s influence, this Liverpool side has been revitalised, and ally that with the British contingent of players that have arrived at Anfield this season. I see a bulldog spirit that will secure them a fourth spot . Carroll and Suarez look a formidable pairing, and with the English trio of Henderson, Downing and Gerrard in midfield the Kop will have plenty to cheer about.

Arsenal

As much as it pains me to say this, I can’t see Arsenal finishing in the top three. Losing the quality of Cesc Fabregas and Nasri, will be hard to replace. And I’m afraid bringing in talented young players won’t fix the issue.  What Wenger really needs is a solid experienced centre half and a leader in midfield, they lack the experience and cutting edge to win games against the best sides. There is no doubt they will delight us with the manner in which they play football but equally continue to frustrate.
