Top coach: This player is not good enough to play for Man Utd

The Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer, but a former coach has other ideas…

Speaking to Talk Sport, former Man Utd coach Rene Meulensteen has revealed that he doesn’t think that Romelu Lukaku is good enough for Man Utd. He stated: “Lukaku has obviously had a fantastic season and he is a goalscorer…But at a club like Manchester United you need more strings to your bow”.

Elaborating, he said: “What he needs to develop definitely is his game on the ball, in terms of quick combinations with his team-mates”.

Romelu Lukaku has certainly been a decisive figure during his time in the Premier League, and Meulensteen is echoing the sentiments of many fans in the Transfer Tavern. His goalscoring record is excellent, indeed he is the top scorer in the Premier League, but his general play is occasionally slightly less impressive.

His first touch is a particular weak point, whilst the technical side of his game is also often exposed.

That being said, his primary goal is to score goals, and our landlord thinks that Man Utd should sign him on that trait alone.
