Top contender rejects chance to manage Sunderland

MoyesSunderland supporting punters have spent an absolute fortune in the Transfer Tavern on Saturday evenings this season, drowning their sorrows and crying into their pint pots.

There was tears of joy this past Sunday though as Dutchman Dick Advocaat finally threw in the towel and stood down as manager of the Black Cats.

Naturally talk has now turned to who will succeed the former Rangers manager and attempt to guide the North East club to Premier League survival.

One man it definitely won’t be is ex-Manchester United boss David Moyes, who according to the Daily Mail has rejected an approach from the club.

Real Sociedad boss Moyes, was sounded out by Sunderland chairman Ellis Short, with his job in sunny Spain currently hanging in the balance with the club just above the relegation zone and locals becoming restless.

One Sunderland fan supping on a cocktail at the bar thinks Moyes would have been perfect for the club and feels he was one man who could have kept the club up.

Black Cats fans… We want your thoughts on this news. Was Moyes the man to keep you up? Who do you want to take over at the helm?
