It’s been a difficult season for Chelsea fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern, with many still finding it hard to comprehend just how far the club has fallen in such a short space of time.
Up until November everything was looking good for the men from Stamford Bridge. A club legend had guided them to the top of the table, all on the back of their first Champions League win the season before, and new signings Oscar and Eden Hazard were making headlines for all the right reasons.
Just three months later, Roberto Di Matteo has been replaced by Rafael Benitez, the club have fallen at the first hurdle in their attempt to defend their Champions League crown, and are scrapping to qualify for next seasons competition.
Many supporters already have their eye cast on next season, when they hope they will have a new manager and titles to fight for once more. The summer will provide the opportunity to bring in some new faces, whilst also presenting the chance to shift some of the deadwood.
