It really has been a tough season for Alan Pardew and Newcastle United. After hitting the heights last season and narrowly missing out on the top four, the Magpies are now battling relegation with several key players being injured at crucial periods this term.
It was always going to be incredibly difficult for the Toon Army to recreate what happened last season as they didn’t improve the squad a great deal in the summer and teams slowly wised up to their method of play.
Not many people will have seen just how tough it would be for them however, and until January signings were acquired and hit the ground running it seemed Championship football was a real possibility next season.
Injuries have played their part too but that only emphasised the lack of strength in depth at St. James’ Park, but now six points clear of the drop zone and with new signings bedding in, what do Alan Pardew and his side need to do in order to gain a respectable Premier League finish?
