After a superb win over Southampton at the weekend, we at the Football Transfer Tavern were actually starting to think the unthinkable – the great escape could actually be on for Queens Park Rangers. Of course they are now managed by Harry ‘Houdini’ Redknapp who does have that knack of getting clubs out of trouble, no matter how desperate the situation appears to be on first glance.
Punters thought that even Harry Houdini may struggle to get the Hoops out of the mire they currently find themselves in but after the weekend win, some are starting to believe there is still some life in the old dog Redknapp yet and that the Loftus Road-based side can actually pull off the rescue job, currently sitting just four points from safety.
Here in the tavern there is a little debate airing as to whether they can actually manage to pull off a massive escape – one to rival West Bromwich Albion’s and Bryan Robson’s rescue job in 2005. Suggestions are flying round thick and fast as to how exactly the R’s can do this and given the fact that there are only 10 games to go and the club are still rooted to the bottom of the table, this means Redknapp is right in saying that the best run since World Wwar I is needed to retain the Premier League status of the club.
