Top five worst Manchester United football shirts

Away Shirt 1992/93There is no doubt Manchester United have been the best team of the Premier League era by quite some distance, but they have a lot of catching up to do with regards to the quality of the shirts they have produced down the years.

Adidas, Umbro, and most recently Nike have all had the honour of producing the shirts for Sir Alex Ferguson’s various sides and each and every one of them have had a nightmare at some point.

Blue has often been the preffered choice for away kits, as well as black, white and grey; although the less said about United in a grey kit the better, as Sir Alex once blamed his side’s defeat against Southampton at the Dell on his sides Grey strip – claiming the players found it impossible to pick each other out!

Some of United’s kits from the early nineties can only be described as truly bizarre and leave you wondering if they were actually designed by a sportswear company, or a ten-year-old supporter who won a competition.

Some of the strips United have worn down the years really do have to be seen to be believed. The fans won’t care a jot so long as they continue to win trophies, but for those of us who haven’t enjoyed the same success, allow us this moment to laugh at Manchester United’s top five nightmare shirts from down the years.
