The renewal is certainly a deserved one, given how crucial Lingard has been to proceedings at Old Trafford this season. He has made 12 starts in the Premier League this year so far, alongside a handful of substitute roles.
Whilst rarely a player to regularly score and carry his team to victory, Lingard has often been a consistent performer that always gives 100%.
When Man Utd are chasing a lead or are facing a tough game, Lingard is often the player that Jose Mourinho has turned to, and his work rate is a key reason for that.
Indeed, Lingard’s opportunities have been limited somewhat by the vast breadth of options that Mourinho has available to him. From Anthony Martial to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Man Utd’s squad depth in the attack is pretty sizeable, and so Lingard has done well to make an impact this season.
Our landlord thinks that a renewal for Lingard is a smart move.
