Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with a move for Birmingham City starlet Nathan Redmond, with the Midlands club willing to sell for around £12 million.
With contract talks breaking down at Birmingham, it appears they are now prepared to cash in on the winger, who has strung together a collection of impressive performances since making his league debut in 2011. Now that a lucrative contract offer has not been offered, he is set to join one of the Premier Leagues big hitters, though with such a variety of clubs after his services, the option of which would suit hum better is looming.
First off, joining Manchester City would be nothing short of career suicide for him, no matter how talented he is. Unless Redmond fancies becoming another version of Johnson/Sinclair, then he is better off staying far away from Eastlands. The same can be said, although on a lesser scale, if he joined Manchester United. The weakness in United’s side is in their centre, not on the wings, where they have an abundance of international talent. Spurs wouldn’t be a bad option, they have been known to bring out the best in some youngsters, including the likes of Bale, and Walker. He may find his talents wasted away on the bench, more often than not though.
At Liverpool however, Redmond would be allowed to showcase his talents on a regular basis. Rodgers is steadily bringing through the fantastic youth talent that Liverpool possesses, not least the brilliant Sterling. At Anfield, Redmond will be given a chance to thrive on either wing, while Sterling operates on the other side. After all, it’s not like Downing is any better. There is a new dawn at Liverpool, with Rodgers being given time to rebuild the club, with talented youngsters who want to play for the shirt, and it is here that Nathan Redmond can continue to develop his undoubted raw potential.
